Cloister Eberndorf

In the south of Carinthia, in the heart of the Jaun valley,
the market-community of Eberndorf is situated.
In Eberndorf stands, lain on a mild rise, the former
cloister Eberndorf (1106). For the interested visitor
guided tours are organized to the cloister and the
parish-church with the unique crypt.

Vogelpark Turnersee

Staunen Sie über den vielfältigen Artenreichtum an Vögeln im Vogelpark. Einzigartig ist die Sammlung von Sittichen, Papageien, Amazonen, Aras, Kakadus, Loris sowie Greifvögeln, Wasservögel, Hornvögel, Fasanen und vielen mehr.

Vogelpark Turnersee 2 km

In dem auch für Behinderte und Rollstuhlfahrer sehr gut begeh-
und befahrbaren Areal sind mehr als 1.000 Tiere in etwa 340 Arten !
untergebracht, wobei diese hauptsächlich aus eigenen Nachzuchten stammen. Unser Prinzip ist es, keine aus der Natur entnommenen Tiere zu halten.

Eine Attraktion im Vogelpark ist wohl die Tatsache, dass sich die zahmen Vögel gerne auf den Arm nehmen und natürlich auch gerne füttern lassen.

Burg Hochosterwitz

It was first mentioned documentarily in 860. 1209 the Spanheims
bestowed upon the family of Osterwitz the hereditary office
of the cupbearer.
The last cupbearer of Osterwitz was caught in a Turkish invasion
and died in prison, without leaving descendants. Hochosterwitz
goes back to the sovereign, Emperor Friedrich III. King Ferdinand I.
pawned Osterwitz to the governor Christof Khevenhüller.
In 1570 Baron George of Khevenhüller, who equally was governor,
acquired the citadel by purchase, fortifying it against the menacing
Turkish invasions and provided it with an armoury and had the
gates built from 1570 – 1586. The citadel has always remained in
the possession of the family Khevenhüller.

Obir Stalactite Caves

The Obir Caves are situated in the area of Bad Eisenkappel and Vellach,
the most southern cure - and air-health resort of Austria.
From here a special bus drives through the Woschitzgraben to the
caves that stretch at approximately 1000 meters altitude on the
North-side of the Hochobir with 5 km length.

Benediktinerstift St. Paul

The convent St. Paul in the Lavanttal is the only
remaining Benediktinerconvent
in Carinthia. The Roman pillar
basilica, last resting place of
the early generations
of Habsburgers, forms the middle
of the convent. In the new
conventmuseum you can
admire the treasures of the
romanticism, of the Gothic and
the artwork of the baroque.
Showpiece is the Adelheidkreuz
from the 11. century.
 

Wildensteiner waterfall

Two specialities have made Gallizien well known: the spectacle of the Wildensteiner waterfall with a height of fall of 54 meters and the trouts. Today the place presents itself as a starting point for splendid, appealing landscape experiences. Walking, hiking or climbing. Or simply to an excursion with the camera in order to take pictures of the countless motives.

Naturschutzgebiet Trögener Klamm

Sehr zu empfehlen ist eine Durchwanderung der
ca. 3 1/2 km langen Klamm.

Globasnitz

Who looks for tracks of the past in the Kärntner Jauntal finds in Globasnitz a museum of historical treasures. Inscriptions, relief’s, the marble columns at the villageplace and numerous findings testify to the presence of the Celt, Romans and Slav. On the Hemmaberg archaeological excavations take place: in the open-air-museum but also early-Christian mosaics in the archaeological museum. Popular destinations are the excavations at the Hemmaberg, the Rosaliagrotte and the castle of Elberstein.

The “Miniature World on Lake Wörthersee”
is a display of over 150 miniature models
of famous Austrian and international
constructions in a scale of 1:25. There
is also a model harbour with ships as
well as a model railroad leading through
the terrain. Minimundus, the place for
unforgettable impressions.
 

Klagenfurt - Lindwurm

Der LINDWURM das Wahrzeichen der Landeshauptstadt Klagenfurt steht in der Mitte des neuen Platzes.
Schon die beiden ältesten, noch erhaltenen Stadtsiegel
aus dem Jahr 1287 zeigen den Lindwurm am Turm im Klagenfurter Wappen. Drei Jahrhunderte später nahm
der Lindwurm auch plastische Gestalt an. 
1636 erhielt der Lindwurm Gesellschaft. Der keulenschwingende Herkules ist eine barocke Arbeit des Bildhauers Michael Hönel. Der Lindwurm und sein
Bezwinger sind jedes Jahr Anziehungspunkt für Tausende Touristen.

Bleiburg - Petzen

Bleiburg: an enchanting, historical, South Carinthian small town. From everywhere in Carinthia visitors come to the famous annual Bleiburger meadow market, an ancient tradition which starts in the first week of September, an experience for grown-ups and children. In the winter skiing and langlaufen at the Petzen (2114 m altitude) and on many kilometres well-maintained courses.
Bleiburg is also a typical cultural experience with numerous monuments in the city and its surroundings like for example the Renaissance Palace from the 16th century and the parish- and pilgrimage-churches. The Werner Berg-Galerie has become an attraction for art lovers from all over Europe.

Venice  290km

Venice

Venice consists of 118 islands that are interconnected with over 400 bridges. The lagoon, a flat inner-sea around the city is approximately 40 kilometres long
and 15 kilometres wide.
The city is 7,06 km²s big and 4260m long. To Venice belong the islands Torcello, Murano, Burano, San Michele, the city-area of the
Lido and the communities Mestre and Marghera on the mainland. Besides the 300 glassworks in Murano with 4000 employees there is no industry in the old part of Venice. The main contingent of the jobs is provided by the tourism.
There are 200 hotels in Venice. 17 million tourists visit Venice yearly.

Heinrich-Harrer-Museum in Huettenberg

Heinrich Harrer was born at the 06th of July 1912 in Austria. He studied sport and geography and was in 1936 participant of the Olympic Games. He became famous with the ascent of the Eiger-Nordwand in 1938. So he was invited for the German-Austrian Nanga Parbat expedition in the Himalaya. Unfortunately the outbreak of the Second World War prevented the successful realization of the expedition. The participants were interned in a British camp. Heinrich Harrer fled in 1944 from this camp and reached with his team colleague Peter Aufschnaiter Tibet, on " the roof of the world ". His museum gives an overview over his experiences in Tibet and his acquaintance with the Dalai Lama.

Drau Schifffahrt

Eine Schifffahrt entlang der Drau. Linienverkehr zwischen Haupt-Anlegestelle St.Kanzian (Tainacher Draubrücke), Hafen-Anlegestelle Neudenstein und Hafen-Anlegestelle Völkermarkt.
Der Völkermarkter Stausee ist nach dem Wörthersee und Millstätter See der drittgrößte See Kärntnes.

Sternwarte in St. Kanzian am Klopeinersee

Tauchen Sie in die Milchstraße ein! - Begeben Sie sich auf eine Mondkratersafari! Sehen Sie Ihr Sternbild am Nachthimmel und erleben Sie die Wunder des Weltalls!

Die Helmrich-Lambrecht-Sternwarte wurde vor über 50 Jahren von einem Pionier der Kärntner Astronomie, Helmrich Lambrecht, erbaut. Mitten in St. Kanzian am Klopeiner See errichtete er auf dem Dach seines Hauses eine Kuppel mit 3,2m Durchmesser. Über den Zugang in der Garage gelangten die Besucher der regelmäßig stattfindenden Führungen in die Kuppel. Heute ist die Sternwarte im Besitz von Herrn Eugen Freund, dem Enkel Lambrechts.

Das Familienausflugsziel am Klopeiner See bietet auf rund 20.000m² ein naturnahes Freizeitangebot an.
Den Besucher erwartet ein Baumwipfelpfad, ein interaktiver Naturerlebnis- und Lehrpfad,
ein begehbarer Fuchsbau, ein Kletterwald sowie ein Hecken- und Baumlabyrinth. Dazu kommen Rutschen, Schaukeln, ein Streichelzoo und ein Kleinkinderbereich.
